So lately my Onkyo simply REFUSES to show me the setup page on my tv (Phillips 1080p). I just get the listings on the Onkyo itself. When I hit return to come out of settings my screen flickers like it thinks its working. I have unplugged and repowered both my tv and Onkyo. I have unhooked everything from my Onkyo except just the hdmi to my TV. This used to work.. then it started only working sometimes. Now my Wii simply gets no video either .. only audio and it IS setup correctly. My PC, PS3, and 360 are fine. I have been at this for hours tearing all my stuff apart. The only similarity between the Wii and the Onk menu is they are both SD. However, my cable box is also SD and it works fine. I also tried launching the setup page while the cable box was displaying. This is frustrating.. Any suggestions? I also factory reset my Onkyo and tried various display settings and hdmi on my TV.

Update: One other things I tried.. If I plug my Wii composite into my Onkyo (aux) it also does not work.
If I plug my Wii directly into my TV it is fine. Some how my Onkyo is blocking my Wii and the Onkyo menu! I have to assume these are related. It is so weird as these both used to work fine. I went through about every setting under the sun .. but any suggestions would be appreciated. Going to trry and give Onkyo a call tomorrow. Last edited by statikcat; 06-05-2009 at 04:21 AM. |

Everything else works over HDMI (PS3, 360, cable, pc). I am pretty sure only the 605 has a specific HDMI menu/setup screen option. My friend has one and that specific feature I could not find on the 606. I am pretty sure the setup menu over HDMI is just always turned on with the 606.

Well I called Onkyo and they pretty much said I have to take it to a service center. They have no hardware knowledge there at all and were little help aside from getting me a local service center phone number. So considering the service center can take 1-2 weeks I am probably just going to buy a new receiver. I guess you get what you pay for with Onkyo. I am thinking I will probably grab the Yamaha RX-V765. It has similar wattage but has a few other features over the Onk I am interested in anyway.. probably sounds better too!

Sorry to hear this staticat, as this kind of thing really s&cks. Sorry I couldn't be of more help......good luck on your next purchase. I hear the Yamaha 765 is actually this years version of the Yamaha 663 from last year, which means it should be an excellent receiver.
