Default Help with Onkyo 606 setup

Couple of simple questions:

Should I use bannana plugs for the speakers? (no mention in the manual)?

I am connecting 4 HDMI sources to the unit, as far as audio goes is the HDMI connection enough, or to get the full benifit of DTS etc do I still need to connect via the digital/ optical inputs as well?

Thanks.

Banana plugs are for convenience only. Optional. I don't use 'em personally.

Don't use anything but HDMI. They're unneeded. You can get all that through HDMI without adding more wires.

How are you using 4 HDMI sources with the 605? It only has 2 inputs...

Because it's a 606 and not a 605?

i would assume your hook ups will depend on what your hooking up to the 606. i didnt see anything else mentioned.

Personally, I use crimpless banana plugs. No worries about fraying or oxydation of the bare speaker wires and very convenient. If you want the FULL benefit of DTS, then you should use HDMI since that is the only way you are going to get true 7.1 output (I think...).

Questions have been answered, so I would just like to add that the 606 is a fine-sounding amp and so far I love mine.

Thanks for the quick responses, think I will go with the bannana plugs, also glad to know I can get rid of most of my cables and just run through the HDMI.

Yep, it's a 606 (4 to 1 HDMI), not a 605

For those interested.....

I am connecting the following via HDMI:
Sky HD Box
Linksys Kiss 1600 media centre
PS3
Pioneer DV 600 AV (DVD, with upscaling)

Via component I will be connecting my old faithful Sony VHS player.

All this running to a Sony Bravia.
