The PS3 decodes Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA audio codecs internally. All you need to get this high quality sound is some speakers (5.1 etc), an HDMI cable (or 2), and a receiver that is capable of outputting audio from HDMI.

You would plug your PS3 -> HDMI Cable -> receiver input, then receiver HDMI output -> TV input for the best possible audio/video quality. Assuming your TV and receiver both support HDMI.

Hope this helps!

Also some receivers are just HDMI pass through. So just because the model says it has HDMI inputs does not mean you will get Hi def audio. Even the most of the not so smart people at BB should know that

I live in Canada too, receivers are REALLY overpriced here. I got mine for $800 on ebay brand new, cost $1,300 in stores.

I'm not sure what your price range is, but if you're looking for good value for your money, Onkyo Home theater in a box packages are quite nice. You'll probably look at spending about $500-$700 for the receiver and 5.1 speakers. Not sure if that's in your price range or not. Check their website.

Apart from that I recommend going to a place like Visions and seeing what kind of stock they have in your price range. Check them all out, find the one you like and see if you can get it online for cheaper.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....questid=206938

They start about halfway down the first page.. the Yamaha 465 for $330 is the best lowest price starting point...

Just make sure that the HDMI ports on the receiver are HDMI version 1.3 (1.2 will work as well I believe) and that it doesn't say "HDMI Pass-through" and you should be good.
