Default PS3, how do you have it..standing or laying flat?

I was wondering how most of you have your PS3's setup, standing up or laying down? I have always had mine laying down but lately have been contemplating standing it up. Are there benefits and cons to each way?

Laying flat for me. It's not like the 360 where standing it can potentially hurt your games (happened to my brother twice).

The only reason I have mine laying down is because that's how it fits in my TV stand. Standing it up shoots the hot air up and out, which could potentially cool it quicker after shut down.

Laying down, just seems the best way to have it be.

Mine's laying flat. As someone else noted, it's the only way I could position it inside my ET stand.

Standing up. Just saves space for the table it's on.

Standing up... basic thermodynamics, it exhausts heat much better that way.

Like my ps2,360 and wii standing up-it does save space and from what i've heard cools better-i even have a small powered computer fan siting on it pulling the hot air up and out faster than the system can itself. Still warm when i shut it down but just like a real computer it gets warm.

And two: in my experience, disk drives (either HDD or optical drives) tend to last longer when run vertically. A prevailing theory is that gravity has a lowered detrimental effect on drives and media if they are vertical.

laying flat. i have never seen a DVD player, or any disc based reader for that matter standing up. i see no reason why a game console should as well. plus i agree, it looks better flat.

I couldn't decide to have mine laying flat or standing, so it's at a 45 degree angle... A fair compromise.

I wouldn't worry about it falling over. I had mine standing up on a windowsill before we moved it into the TV stand. My cat knocked the PS3 to the ground while I was playing on it.

It still works perfectly!

Standing, and turned slightly sideways. It belongs on a catwalk as when the light catches it right it looks beautiful!!!

I'd do it for sure
