I thought 6 - 8 Ohm's was the norm. Download the ELITE manual and it usually will say in there what is acceptable. Some of the ELITE receiver have adjustable settings for the Ohm's you have.

If they are not 6 or 8 ohms, forget it. Another member fried his SC-05 because he tried to simply hook up 4 ohm surround speakers, and he had to kiss his Elite goodbye. Luckily, it was new and he was able to get a new one....whatever you do...DON'T DO IT!

At 3 ohms, I'm guessing they're speakers from an HTiB. I don't know why they make those to run at such unusual impedances. Anyway, as everyone else has said, don't do it. You'll fry a great receiver. However, if you just wanna get one and pretend you trashed it, you can ship it to me.

Of course if you just HAVE to have it and want to hear your speakers you could wire 2 of them in Series and get a 6 ohm load.
![]() Seriously though, DON'T DO THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING! ![]() |

Just curious, but why do you want a new receiver before speakers? If your speakers are 3ohms, my guess is they are HTIB speakers. Your money would be better off spent on new speakers, as whatever you have to drive new speakers for the time being would be fine and make much larger improvement than a new receiver will on your current speakers or just sitting there not being used. Just my $.02
