If your speakers are 3ohms, my guess is they are HTIB speakers. Your money would be better off spent on new speakers, as whatever you have to drive new speakers for the time being would be fine and make much larger improvement than a new receiver will on your current speakers or just sitting there not being used. Just my $.02
