Sub decision time - Blu-ray Forum

I am currently looking at 3 subs
1.HSU VTF 3.3 (rosenut,good match colour wise to my Monitor Audio RS8s)
2.SVS PB12 NSD (blk))
3.AV123 MFW15 (rosewood, hopefully to match my Monitor Audio RS8s..is it safe to buy yet? Ive heard there is a hum and such with this sub??)
My room is 10x15 with an opening into the kitchen....which one would provide the most bang for the buck??

of those I like the MFW15, although I'm going based on reviews and specs alone..... as I haven't heard any of those personally.

The three subwoofers are great. Buy all of them.

I love the Hsu rosenut subwoofers. Buy 4 of them and put them in the four corners of the room.

My house is on a hill and the closest neighbors are at least 100+ yards away and below our house. The bass waves go over their heads.

The AV123 are using the new amps now, so you shouldn't have a problem. Just in case you would, they do respons quite quickly and will try to accommodate you in any way possible. I know StimpsonJCat got a "B" stock MV123 MFW15, and he has had no issues with his, and he loves how low and tight the bass is produced. I have the PC12-NSD from SVS. My preference was the cylinder sub for the smaller footprint, but the PB12 is also a great sub that can get very low as well, without any distortion. As far as the Hsu, based only on their reputation, they are an excellent company as well. Big Daddy is right, you can't go wrong with any of them. Good luck!

Did you ask, SVS, HSU and AV123 which of their sub would be better for your room size?

Thats a beautiful sub! I prefer ported though

Spec wise, the three subs are in the same league and I think you can't go wrong with any of your choices!

Are you upgrading from another sub?

I love me my HSU. Can't comment on the others. Reading all 42 pages of the DIY Sub Riser thread has me thinking I need another

My wife is going to kill me...

another vote for the Hsu, love my Vtf-3 HO. You might also want to check out the Rhythmic subs, especially if you are also seriously into music. If I could afford it, I think I might give up my Hsu for one of the Rhythmics, but I would want the 15".

Yes, I am upgrading from a Velodyne DPS12. It wasn't a bad sub, but the controls on that thing were annoying. For the ones who had this sub, you know what i'm talking about! I'm leaning towards the HSU right now, only thing holding me back is the price. Being in Canada, the SVS can be had for 850CDN. HSU for 1150 CDN. and the MFW15 for 1100 CDN. Is the price difference worth it? Those are with shipping,taxes,duties,etc. I think its more of a colour things now, weather I want it to match the mains or not. I don't want to overload the room with Rosenut

I'm convinced that I would be happy with either sub.

IMO, with the SVS being at least 300 CDN cheaper than the other 2, this is the sub you should strongly consider. The price difference is just too great for what will be a wash in performance between the 3.

Thats what I wanted to hear...honestly, thank you. I can deal with the black colour I guess. Anybody tried applying rosenut veneer on a subwoofer before?
