Default New house wired for speakers ?'s

Hi,

I just bought a townhouse and it appears fully wired for speakers/intercom. I thought there would be a control panel or some main starting point but if there is I can't find it.

I have "plates" on the walls all over the house hiding the speaker wire that is in the walls. Downstairs in the spot where the tv should go there is a doubleplate with what I assume is speaker wire, then to the back of the room in the ceiling are 2 plates where the rear speakers would hang from.

My questions are how exactly I should start. I was thinking of taking the doubleplate off, and connecting say red/black to left rear and blue/gray to right rear...then take off the plates on the ceiling and connect the rear speakers.

Also, if I did that, how would I keep the speakers attached.

Thanks for any help/feedback. Let me know if you need some more info

Any chance you could contact the previous owner to ask about it?

Here is my suggestion. Go to your electrical panel and open the cover. Inside there should be a permit sticker with the name of the electrical contractor that wired your house. Give them a call and tell them that you just bought the house and it was pre-wired for speakers but you don't know where the wires go. I'm sure someone would be happy to help you!
