Need a Recommendation

Here is what I'm getting for my HT gear. Need a recommendation for a sub around $500. Thanks!

B&W 683s for fronts
B&W 685s for rears
B&W VM-6 for center
Furman Elite 20 PFi for power conditioner
Marantz AV8003 for pre-amp
Marantz MM8003 for amp
PS3 for Blu-Ray player
55" Sony BRAVIA XBR9 for TV

ML Dynamo..... $500 out the door (according to my local shop) I'm pretty sure the MSRP is $599 where-ever you go.... but I'm sure if my shop can sell them for $500, others can too.

It's a very accurate sub.... I've been looking at getting some for myself (possibly) I'm still looking at the craigslist deal you commented on elsewhere though.

That's quite a list!!! Any recommendations on what one would work best with my B&W speakers and Marantz amps?

Subwoofers do not have to be from the same manufacture as speakers. All the subwoofers in the above links are good subwoofers and will satisfy your needs. Most of them are factory-direct and reasonably priced. It is a matter of personal perference, price, customer service, and aesthetics.

For example, some (Hsu subwoofers), are available in different colors and appeal to women. Some, like ED, are very good, but are only available in black and you have to wait a few weeks for them.

Other factors are warranty period, customer service, and shipping charges.

What size room?
Do you care how big the sub is?
Care about the finish? (black, gloss black, wood veneers)?
Movies/Music watching/listening ratio? (to help decide on sealed vs ported design)
Does the $500 budget have to cover shipping as well?


In that budget I would look at eD, SVS, HSU, and Outlaw Audio.

I have the ML Dynamo! Love it, it is a great sub, especially considering its size.
