Recommendation Please - Blu-ray Forum

Hello, I own a PS3. But my grandmother has been wanting to get a Blu-Ray player herself, but I'm not sure what to recommend her. She plans to buy it from Best Buy as she has $100 gift card to put towards it.

Any ideas?

If she does not want a PS3, and there is nothing wrong with that (in-spite of what some will say here), but I'd still give her the option. The Sammy 1500 @ $399 is getting some good reviews and will be BD live with a firmware update. I got the Panny BD30 a few week ago and love it runs $499.99. If she is OK waiting a few weeks the Sony BD350 should be a good player @ $399 and will also be BD Live via a firmware update.

The Sammy 1500 is turning out to be a solid player (unlike previous models)
That would be a safe and inexpensive bet for her.

Looks like the new players are about to hit the shelves and they're trying to bleed off inventory. The $100 gift card deal at Walmart a few weeks ago was better and included the PS3. $100 at Walmart is REALLY $100. $100 at BB is more like $60 since they mark everything up. But still not a bad deal.

I would wait for the new models. I don't think she will be happy with the slow load times.

tell your grandma to buy a ps3...just because its a game system...its still the best blu ray player...and can be updated via online...Help her get all the updates...and some games for the grandkids when they come over....Seems like a cool idea...
