Default Paradigm Signature S6 v.2 or Vienna Acoustic Beethoven Baby Grands?

I'm in the process of deciding if i want to upgrade or not...

I currently have VA Mozart Grands and was thinking about going with the Beethoven Baby Grands which are a step up from what i have.

I also could go a different direction and get the widely loved Paradigm Signature S6's with a C3 center channel.

what would you do lol?

The Paradigms are going to be a different experience. I wouldn't say one is worse than the other since this hobby is very subjective. However, from getting to hear both Vienna and Paradigms. The Beryllium tweeter that the S6's have tend to be a bit bright and fatiguing on my ear personally. However, if you are able to, I would see about taking the paradigms home and giving a listen on your equipment and seeing which you prefer. But if you were to move away from Vienna, maybe we can talk turkey about that maestro center ;-)

Another possibility is to upgrade that sub to a REL R-505 or a B-1!

Totally subjective at that level ! Both speakers are very fine speakers. It comes down to what you like - that's why I'm not even going to answer this poll - I like both!

I only use a sub for HT use, and the MFW-15 outperforms both of those in that regard.

If i were to use a sub with music it would without question be REL

What are your listening habits? Music or movies? Like prerich said, both are more than capable of delivering what you need.

If it were me (and because I'm much more into music) I chose the Vienna upgrade. I think Paradigms are treading a line between wanting to be a great speaker for both genres of enjoyment. Their signature sound is much harsher than the Viennas. I think it is a sound (the Paradigms) that HT afficionados like. If your primary interest is music...stick with the Viennas.

Tough choice then bigred!

Givin that situation I think I would still give the edge to the Beethoven's. Viennas, much like my Totems, are a very very capable speaker and suffer from no listener fatigue in any circumstance. Musical speakers like the ones we own are often-times underrated for their HT prowess, but in the end...they represent the most balanced approach.

Just my opinion of course. Besides....damn those Viennas are sexy!

Just wanted to say, the Paradigm Signature (or Servo 15v2) sub is awesome for music with unbelievably low amounts of THD.

My vote is to keep your current speakers and save your money. You can buy many additional Beethoven albums and play them on your Mozart speakers. When did they decide to rank Beethoven ahead of Mozart? They were both great composers.

No one ever comments much, but BD you're sense of humour is killer!

True, the Servo 15 is quite impressive. However, the REL's, are designed so that they can be connected to both the High-level input and be blended into your main speakers to extend the frequency while at the same time be connected to the LFE for home theater. This is something I haven't heard of anyone else doing besides AVI Hi-Fi with their sub for their ADM 9.1 active loudspeakers.

I have to agree with John. My main point for any speaker is that if it cannot reproduce music in a pleasing way to you, then it probably is going to disappoint with movies too. Speaker are intended to reproduce recorded music. Most movie sounds are invented in a sound studio no one has ever heard a light saber battle or many of the other wonderful things movies let us hear and imagine.

But if you do upgrade to the Baby Grands, we can always talk about those Mozarts.. I could use a nice set of surrounds

Why are you considering the upgrade? Are you not happy with the Viennas that you have now? Both sets you're looking at are stellar in their own right, I'd do some serious thinking before dropping the coin on something you might not need at the moment. I think that if you were to upgrade, go with the Viennas, that way you can keep your current center. I love the finish on them btw. Good luck in choosing either option as they are all good!

I dunno. I like a slightly more dynamic speaker for HT, and dynamic speakers tend to be "brighter". I personally prefer a more laid back speaker for music so its kinda of a tough situation lol.

And man you're just trying to get something out of me from an upgrade!

I like what you have, When you look at your system as a whole, is it really the speakers that come next on the upgrade list? Well helll, I can't see a fault! Maybe a bigger television?

because i'm obsessed with this hobby lol. I'm very happy with my Mozarts, heck i've been happy with every item i have had before i upgraded it. Its just a sickness that i like to pursue . I also get easy access to various speaker brands being that i work at audio shop. If i did not get dealer cost i would not even consider an upgrade.

I just wish my store carried some Sigs lol....then this would be very easy.

Eh i would rather have better speakers lol.

I'll be buying a house next year with my fiance and when that comes i'll actually set up a HT room with a projector...

Heck maybe what i need to do is get the Paradigms for my future HT, then start a separate 2-channel system...Hmmmm

What do you mean by dynamic? When I hear that I think of when a speaker can play the subtle parts as well as the loud or intense parts and be detailed (and I feel the vienna's do that well).

What do you feel is lacking from the Mozarts to bring about the idea of upgrading?

I can't help if I think your gain can be my gain too
