Pre-ordering from Amazon - Blu-ray Forum

The New World comes out on Blu-ray September 8th. I'd like to have it in my hands on the 8th or as close to that date as possible.

I've never pre-ordered an item from Amazon before and I've heard mixed things. What are your experiences with pre-ordering Blu-rays from Amazon? Keep in mind, The New World is no Iron Man or The Dark Knight: Amazon likely won't be inundated with pre-orders; it's not going to break any records.

Essentially, if I pre-order this from Amazon (with free shipping), can I expect it on the 8th or 9th, or should I expect it the 15th? If I want it the 8th will I have to pay for priority shipping?

My Amazon pre-orders almost always ship on the Monday before release, so they arive no later than Wednesday. Of course, I have Amazon Prime so I always get second day shipping free.

Sometimes, it will even ship on the Friday before so it gets to me on released day.

99% of the time my pre-orders arrive anytime from Wednesday to Friday of the week of release

It really all depends on how far you are from their distribution centers.

They ship media from KY (one of many distribution hubs) and I'm in TN so I get my movies on release day.

just an fyi, whenever i've ordered from wherehouse.com, i've received the movies anywhere from 3-5 days before release date. just saying

It does really depend which distribution center it ships from and how far you are from it. You are asking about their regular free shipping and not Prime though, so you will not likely receive it as quickly as some are saying in the thread.

I choose free shipping all the time and sometimes I get it on the release date. I pre-ordered Gears of War 2 and got it the day before release. They have never let me down when I pre-order something.

I have amazon prime and any new release I've pre-ordered ships that Monday afternoon or night and arrives Tuesday morning. Even though it's two day shipping UPS delivers it the next day anyway

It depends on where you live. The Prime free 2-day shipping occasionally takes 3 days to get to my house and I receive it two days after release. If you absolutely want it as soon as possible, you would need to pay for overnight shipping (or buy it in a store).

I live in miami. The new releases are shipped on the Monday of the initial week's release and I get it on Wednesday...not bad.

Anytime Amazon's carrier misses the delivery method I chose, I let them (Amazon) know. They always offer up some sort of gift certificate or credit, usually $5-$15. Might be worth a try?

pre orders usually ship the day before the release date. i always get mine 2-3 days after. i pre ordered gta 4 and got it on the release date.

What's sad though is Amazon use to ship far enough in advance that you would actually get the disc on the day of release or earlier! Aabout two years ago all that changed! Now I don't get them until 3- 4 days after street!

I use Prime and get them on Tuesday or Wednesday.

My orders have always arrived on schedule and in good condition. I'm getting the Denon AVR 590 from them next week, and Coraline, Bolt, and Lilo and Stitch have arrived and worked perfectly.

Yes, you will get the lowest price advertised up until the release date.

Let's say you pre-order and the price is currently $19.99. But before the release date, that price drops to $17.99. You will be charged $17.99 at the time of shipping, not $19.99.

Unfortunately the post-purchase price guarantee is gone

I know with my Amazon prime I've found that as long as I pre-order 1 day before something comes out it'll be here the day its released which is great and when I buy a game it says release day guarantee.
