Default Concert Bass versus HT Bass

This past weekend, my wife and I were fortunate enough to travel to Orlando, FL. While there we saw the Blue Man Group (BMG) at Universal Studios.

I've seen a lot of other concerts, but the sound in that particular venue was unreal. The bass was so deep, clear, and penetrating that I could feel my chest compressing with each thump Hey, I think my spleen is still twitching!

In addition to being acoustically (and visually) stunned, I caught myself thinking of all the bass-heads here on the Blu-Ray Forum. I wondered what your multiple (and expensive) sub setups sound like compared to the BMG setup.

Have any of you with multiple, expensive subs ever seen BMG at Universal Studios? If so, how does it compare to the sound of your HT? Be honest now.

I snagged the DVD + CD combo at the show (signed with blue fingerprint of course). Hopefully next week I'll get some time to hear if it contains any good bass. If not, maybe the bluray version will.

Thanks for making me smile all you fellow bass heads!

I went to a Dumpstaphunk show last week in San Francisco and the bassist was hitting some deeeeppp notes, sounded awesome. I don't know anyone with a nice Home Theater so I've never heard anything like that in a Home Theater setting, but it would be nice to have a setup like that someday.

It would take a high end system that would be able to play at high volumes with a few high end subs, then you'd probably get that badass concert feel. I know there's some guys on here that have setups like that

A pair of JL Audio Gothams in an HT setting playing the BMG on Blu-ray may get you the same affect.

I am kind of wondering with 12" sub if you can produce chest pounding bass, I think the answer is no unless you set really close.
So I would say most HT don't have that kind of bass also concerts are pretty loud and I don't think most people view a movie at concert volume.. ? or do they
