Why no IndyCar racing game???

What's with all this off road, drag and fast and furious geek racing?

Is anyone going to wake up and make a great Indy Car racing game? The different tracks they use are amazing, the only type of racing that's watchabele these days.

The last officially licensed IndyCar game was made back in 2003. It got mixed reviews, and probably didn't sell all that well, which is probably why sequels were never made.

There is a PC racing sim called rFactor which has modification (unlicensed) for IndyCar 2008 season. I have no idea whether it's any good.

I prefer Formula1, myself. If you're a fan of open-wheel racing, though, there was an F1 game back in '07, and there's supposedly a new version coming out next year.

Games are based on the popularity of the sport and how well it would be expected to sell, and as IndyCar isn't very popular a game wouldn't be expected to sell well enough to be worth the investment. It's the same reason there isn't a WNBA or MLS game.

It's a tough sport to do in a game. In reality, any contact between cars in Indy typically spells certain doom.

I also prefer F1, I tried watching Indy or Cart and I I just can't get into it, I thing the yellow flags poping up all the time like in Nascar just kill's it for me. It look's like half the race is being run on yellow, very boring for me.

That would actually be a selling point for me...just causing havoc

That's pretty much what I've done with every GTA game I've ever played.

the indycar game noted here will be as bad as the one they made for the wii...I'm with wolf here, need a really good indycar game.

f1 2006 or whatever it is called is really, really good though. got mine on ebay for 13 bucks. pissed really, I rented it for 8 first...don't blow the 8 bucks, just buy the first one you can on ebay, it's well worth it (no spa that year, though, and it's the season before hamilton comes on board). villenueve, montoya, shumi, button, speed, alonso, kimi, barechelo...great line up, AND it does have Indy (and it's looks great! I live in speedway, so I know it's accurate!!)
