Default Next racing game after Burnout Paradise?

I had'nt played a racing game in years but decided to pick up Burnout Paradise and was amazed, greatest car game I've ever played. Is there any other rcing or car games out there with similar gameplay, I've tried the GRID and Gran Turismo 5 demos and find they suck, that stupid type of "realistic" driving for games is pathetic.

Is there any other game that's similar to Burnout on the PS3? Is the driving in GT4 and Midnight Club: Los Angeles decent?

I also need to pick up that Formula 1 PS3 game, the demo for it is fantastic.

I don't know if there is any game that is similar to burnout 5. I haven't played Midnight Club: Los Angeles. What exactly is it about burnout 5 that you would like to see in another racing game?

Ok, for starters and probably the most important aspect is the driveability that is fantastic. When I press right or left I want my car to go that way not do 500 360's like in those nerdy drifting games.

Graphics are fantastic, car selection is amazing, music and sound are great.

I dont need my car to crash every time it hits a mailbox or a pole either. The Marked man and Road rage features are amazing too.

The massive paint job selection is fun. A lot more positives to this game, everything has been thought out well, it's a perfect racing/car game, it has a bit of everything for everyone..

I just wish it had a few more Le Mans Prototype cars in it

A bigger map with different neighborhoods cant hurt, as well as adding people maybe in some parts?

DJ Atomica is funny too.

Best car in Burnout Paradise: GT 2400. Is there a game that features these type of Le Mans Prototype cars only? The first Barracuda looking car was cool too as was the Wal Mart Indy car.

Burnout 5 is a very cool game. There has never been anything like it before. I think the best thing is having a lot more freedom then being more restricted, like in the past with older burnout games. I think that it'll be a while before we see a part 6.

I hope SuperCar Challenge (PS3) will have similar mechanics when it coems to driving, the cars look great. I doubt it though, until than will enjoy BP.

Given what you've described as your perfect type of race game, I would steer clear of the F1 Championship game, which I love. It is a very realistic racing sim, and with crash damage you can be out of the race quickly.

I haven't tried Midnight Club: Los Angeles yet, but if it's anything like past Midnight Club games you'll probably like it. Need for Speed games would be good for you to check out too. I'd suggest Need for Speed: Carbon or the upcoming game NFS: Undercover over Pro Street though.

And for the record, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue is an amazing game. It's easily the best racing game on PS3, or any other console, for that matter. Racing sims aren't for everyone though.

I like the realistic driving games so I am waiting for GT5.
Although I realize they take some getting used to after play games like Burnout.
Burnout Paradise is cool, but there are a few things that really annoy me about it.
The navigation sucks so it's really hard to follow a route by the map.
The open environment is cool but having to drive to every event or the junk yard gets boring after a while, there should be a way to jump to an event if you want to.
Worst of all, there is no option to change the controller configuration so you are stuck with the default controls, like them or not.

They did say that there will be an "arcade" mode for Supercar Challenge, although their last game Ferrari Challenge fell more towards the "sim" spectrum.

When you said GT4 did you mean Gran Turismo 4 for the PS2?

I'd say get Motorstorm Pacific Rift if you like arcade racers, or try Wipeout

Oh and Grid isn't realistic, not even close.

I wish ea would realize that when they put out a poll on their site asking what is the best nfs series ever made, and motor city online is picked by a large margin. That it does not mean throw out another piece of junk import racer with level1,level2,level3 upgrades.

Amazing how a game that is almost a decade old now still kicks the crap out of any racing game ever made! People want multi part upgrades all the way down to the type of piston rods, they want large mmo style auction houses with rare spawns! They want damage models and cars actually to reduce performance if you choose to drive into walls. They want a large online user base that have clubs and a career mode that allows you to progress your character.

Sadly every racing game since falls completely short on what ea captured back in 2001, it was a different time back then when mmo gaming was only a niche market. I think the user base is much wider now and many have accepted the fact that most decent online gaming cost a monthly fee to play. Not to mention more importantly the difference in Internet capabilities these days on the user side.

I really wish some gaming company would look into the fact that a mmo style racing game needs to be retried, preferably set in the hot rod era as i think it was a golden time in the automotive industry with a lot of cool rides released in that time period.

I tried the Formula 1 Championship Racing demo and I find it amazing, it's very driveable, I used to be a huge F1 fan so I like the style. I just downloaded Need for Speed Pro Street and uninstalled it in less than 5 minutes, same with Grid. I dont like dirt roads and too many stunts, I like high speed super traction and maybe some smashing but the whole drifting, stunt scene isnt for me.

I will check out Midnight Club, never tried any of it's previous versions, thanks.

What categories do all these racing games fall into? I love Burnout Paradise and F1 Championship so far, what types are these? I just like games that can handle most corners going at top speed, especially enjoy old muscle cars, even some hot rods and 40's-50's cars, F1 and Indy cars, and Le Mans Prototype 1 cars. Lambos, vettes, lotus's are great too, cant stand that whole drifting small car BS lol, and no hick truck stuff either.

City and track roads are my faves, no dirtroads and 1000000 feet high jumps and stuff.

You guys got any more suggestions, please let me know.

I'm thinking of trying GTA 4 and Midnightclub : LA next.

i found GRID to be a great racing game. The handling in that game is PERFECT. That's what makes a racing game a good one.

If you want answers i'd suggest not bashing people's interest by calling them stupid and pathetic. Gran Turismo pioneered racing games and there's a reason why #5 is coming out it's because it is the best franchise when it comes to racing.

Now for ARCADE RACING, burnout does it best in my opinion. Motorstorm is also a lot of fun.
