for a yamaha 663 do i set my fronts to small or large,and do i select sub only or do i select both, if this was asked before please excuse it

Check the Subwoofer section of the Forum. There are some really good threads there that should answer all your questions. Big Daddy has put a lot of time and effort into those threads, and they've helped many, many people.

I would set them to small and sub only, play around with the sub crossover on the receiver settings but a good starting point is 80hz, i'm not that familiar with that model but if has an automatic set up feature run that first and fine tune your settings, but unless your have really high end speakers they should almost always be set to small.
