Correct. Your cart for your current already out titles will ship within the next few days and the pre-order BD's will ship when they become available. Amazon will email you when they ship out your pre-ordered titles and you can expect a charge within 24 hours.

When checking out, Amazon will give you the option to bundle your items into as few shipments as possible, or you can choose to have things ship when they are available. So, with the second option, the titles that are currently available would ship now and all pre-ordered items would ship when they are released.

If you preorder from amazon, they will give you the lowest price between your preorder date and the release date. This make me give a higher preference to amazon over some other sites.

In the USA, generally speaking, it is improper to charge a customer for a mail-order/Internet-order item prior to it actually shipping.
While the actual law doesn't prevent this action, the contract merchants have with Visa and AMEX forbid it. MC is a little more lenient to merchants, but they won't require a cardholder to pay for an item they haven't received yet. This even applies to non-PIN debit card purchases. It does not apply to direct bank draft or check purchases, from what I understand. (It also does not apply to pre-authorization fees, where merchants attempt to determine if your card is valid by charging a temporary fee, whether it be $1 or the whole amount, because those charges fall off and won't count against your balance.) A lot of this sprang from litigation during the 80's and 90's when mail-order and catalog order companies were billing customers immediately, and then not shipping items for weeks, months, or never if it was out of stock or discontinued. Dell was successfully sued by a man when they claimed a laptop was in stock, charged his card, and then failed to ship it. Ironically, he was a judge. I don't buy from any online vendors that charge immediately and ship later. It's just bad practice, IMO. The FTC agrees, and it's a hot-button issue with them now that online shopping is so popular. If an online merchant actually charges you, but doesn't expect to ship for days or weeks after that, report them to the FTC. Enough complaints, and it will be illegal soon enough. |
