Default Preordering on Amazon or Buy in Store

I preordered Godfather from Amazon because Im sure it will sell for a higher price in the store. The flip side to that is you have to wait a couple extra days. What do you do? Im going to preorder some other things. I was just wondering if its a waste of time.

You could preorder from other sites that have a history of pre-release deliveries.

Usually I like to just pick them up in the store. It seems like best buy doesn't always get everything that is coming out on the day it comes out. Like Rudy they may not get something like that but that is a movie I can't wait to have.

Pre-ordering means nothing 99% of the time. I've ordered the day before and still get it the next day. Everyone that jumps on the pre-order months before the release date doesn't get them their movies earlier.

I agree somewhat but if you pre-order and the price goes up you've still got the lower price locked in (unless the lower price was an error). Also, if you pre-order and the price goes down you get the lower price. I typically pre-order when an item is in my gold box.

Waiting for a few days if you are getting a better price is worth it IMHO. Just keep monitoring what this will cost at various resources. You don't have to buy it from amazon and can cancel the preorder obviously.

Hint. Some other resources will ship early. They know we shop so they ship things lots of times when they get it in stock!

99% of the time I do amazon, with amazon prime it is even better (it pays itself off very quickly).
The only time I do in store now is if it is a special sale or if there is a give away with preorder (poster or other gimmick)

I would recommend to go to Borders the first day of the release as most movies are discounted for the first day. I have had too many bad experiences with amazon.

The only way you get it from Amazon the day of the release is to sign up for Amazon Prime. Then you pay a extra $3.99 to get next day service per order. You still get it by Wednesday if you just stick with the 2 day shipping. The Amazon Prime is $79 a year, but definitely worth it.

Yeah, I made the mistake thinking that I needed to pay the extra $3.99 to get it on the release day. I'm glad that I figured it out quick that it wasn't necessary for Pre-Order items only items that are already available.

With that being said, maybe its just my area (shipper being close to me), but even when I do 2-Day Shipping on releases currently available with Amazon.com, I still get in 1 day.

Yeah Im going to start pre ordering more because its always cheaper going by way of Amazon. I mean 36 bucks compared to 28. Thats a no brainer.

I used to order my DVDs from DVDPLANET. I would get new releases on the Saturday before they were supposed to be out. That was really nice. I stopped buying from them because buying from stores became cheaper. I will continue to order from Amazon until the prices of the BDs in stores becomes low enough to not matter anymore.

I usually pre-order from DVDPacific. There prices are usually similar to amazon, within a couple of bucks, and they typically ship their movies up to two weeks in advance. For instance, The Bank Job due in store on July 15 shipped from DVDPacific yesterday.

So they're discounted down to what all the other B&M's are? Borders is one of the worst offenders of use of MSRP for movie titles.

I typically pre-order from Amazon with Prime. I don't get it till Wednesday usually, but the savings is worth it to me. I end up saving a few bucks by pre-ordering most of the time. If the price doesn't drop when the title is close to release, I will sometimes cancel there and get it elsewhere, but it's rare they don't have the best price.

Thats why I pre-order from Amazon, plus they'll even price adjust after your order ships if the price goes lower.

I unfortunately pay tax from Amazon now but it's still cheaper from them because they have better sale prices.

They sure do and I have had no problem with them before. I just don't want to run the risk of the store not having what I want.

Also if you sign up for Borders rewards you get a 30% or 40% off one item coupon almost every month you can use on movies.
