Default 1080p PS3 Games

I remember someone mentioning the other day how very few games actually output in 1080p. My response was that many new PS3 games are starting to but I didn't have the specifics at hand. Well, was in BB today and noticed that almost every fairly new game had 1080p output:

Yes 1080p: Ninja Gaiden Sigma, POTC At World's End, FF Silver Surfer, Harry Potter - Phoenix, The Darkness, TC R6, Transformers

No 1080p: The BIGS

So 7 of the 8 latest releases had 1080p. Doesn't mean the games are the best, but I think everyone is realizing you have to use 1080p if it's there.

Is it like the 360 though? Some of their games say 1080p on the back, but they don't display 1080p natively...they upscale. Lost planet for example says 1080p on the back, but one of the developers of the game posted on Capcom's forum that it only upscales it. That makes me mad I think they should only put 1080p on the back of the cases if it displays it natively. My TV upscales everything to 1080p anyways so I don't care if the 360 or any other system does, unless there is an advantage to having a console do it vs. my TV. Anyone?

Most games are simply upscaled to 1080p, not actually rendered that way. I also read that the PS3 version of Madden was going to be more shiny with snazzy effect. Which is why it runs slower. That's just what I read though.

That isn't even true to begin with, but it's too boring finding a list of released PS3 games and picking out all the 1080p native res supporting ones.

A majority of PS Store games support 1080p, I'll say that much.
