PS3 Games in 1080P or Not?? - Blu-ray Forum

Call of Duty 4 is the first game I've bought that says on the box that its 1080p compatible. The Game will only run in 720P. Is there something I'm missing?

Before you guys answer:
Yes I have a 1080P TV
Yes I'm using hdmi
BluRay movies are running in 1080P but just not the game...

It depends on the game. Ridge Racer 7 is 1080P but Motorstorm is only 720P, for example.

you have to uncheck every option besides 1080p.

For some reason the game auto goes to 720p.

I believe I read somewhere on this forum that it was made specially for 720p. I am sure that it looks better on 1080p, but I know I read something to the extent of it being made for 720p. Since it lists 1080p as an option, I am sure that it is either upscaled or my source was misinformed. But since it automatically bounces it to 720p only backs up my source.

Just a guess, but maybe the game is optimized to run in 720p to it defaults to the lower rez because that is what the game was made to run best in. If you uncheck everything except 1080p and you get 480i/p, then I would guess it is a typo on the game case.
