Default Sony KDL-40V5100 Audio issues

Well long story...I just entered the HD world last month and bought the Sony KDL-40V5100. I had Comcast hook me up to HD cable. The cable guy said the HDMI connection was not giving me HD...he hooked up component cables and HD worked. I assumed the HDMI problem was with the cable box. I bought a Samsung BRP with Netflix streaming and it worked great for a week or two with the HDMI then the audio went away. I sent the BRD back to Samsung for repair. I then bought the OPPO 83 BRD and hooked it up last night using the HDMI....no audio. Tried the other HDMI connections and no audio or video...went bact to the first connection HDMI 1 and got the video. Then I hooked up the two audo cables from the BRD to the Sony TV and got the audio. Not exactly the way I was hoping for. So I have some concern regarding the HDMI on the Sony TV...it also has a problem with switching inputs...very glitchy. So any advice would be helpful as I would like to be able to use the HDMI connections for A/V.
