Default KDL-40v5100

couple weeks back i made a thread ranting about my aggrevation with sony. i had a kdl-40v3000, after a year and a half it broke(standby light blinking 13 times) after weeks of talking with sony telling them that im unhappy with them being that im a loyal sony customer. they finally break and tell me that for $300 they will send me the new kdl-40v5100. i took the offer, i thought it was a great deal, also excited about the 120hz. what do you guys think? good deal? and how is this tv if anybody has experience with them? thanks guys.

I think it's a good deal to go with for $300. It's pretty comparable to the W4100, but with a little less color production. I'd say go for it unless you want to spend around $1500 to get a slightly better tv.

Im glad you hooked you up after the warranty expired. The V5100 is a step down in terms of the display panel though. The V3000 has a 10 bit panel, the V5100 has an 8bit panel, the V3000 has Bravia Engine EX, the V5100 has Bravia Engine 2. But since your warranty was expired who cares right?

oh ok cool. yea the great thing is, is that i never had any warranty. so being that its a step down, would it be noticeable change? and are the 120hz in these tvs good?

Its not really a step down, more like like a 1/4 step backwards, 120Hz can play tricks with your eyes at first, some people swear by it, some dont. But, everyone's eyes perceive things differently.
