Default Best Buy won't price match their own website!?!?

Went to Best Buy today to pick up Trick R Treat and saw that it was listed at $27.99. So I took it to customer service and asked them if they would mind price matching their online price of $24.99. The lady said "Nope." When I asked her why not she said corporate instituted a new policy "about a month ago" that they would no longer price match their website! Does this make any sense to ANYONE?? I am dumbfounded here. Is this really true or did I just run in to another wonderful employee from the customer service world? I can't believe they won't price match something from their own website. Just doesn't make any sense at all...

No, their official policy is they don't. Most stores will price match though. Most stores don't price match their own website, including Target and Wal-Mart.

Edit: Although I was told by a manager that their official policy was not to match their site but he'd make an exception for me it appears he was lying.

generally they are not supposed to. if they won't, i just go to one of the PCs around the store and order it there and do in store pick up haha. don't even have to drive home!

the reason Target does not match their online price is because Amazon handles the online orders, and since they don't match Amazon ... you get the idea.

I've never had a problem getting BB to match their site or target.com.

I just go up to the register w/ my item and a printout of the website, smile, be polite, and pay the lower price.

I would try the following steps:

1. talk to another employee preferably the manager
2. if they tell it's their policy not to price-match their own website tell them about in-store pickup which is basically the same as price-matching their website
3. if that still fails, buy at amazon

I've never had a problem with BB matching their own website.

But, to cover yourself in case you have to deal with an idiot employee, just buy online and choose in-store pickup.

Next time, follow these steps:

1. Ask for manager.
2. If they refuse, ask for 1-800 number and their store number and name of their district manager.
3. Proceed to call 1-800 number in front of the manager.

Called pure Business hands down.

If I were you I would be throwing a fit in the store and demand to see a manager and nag until the manager throws a towel.

P.S: Just make sure that the manager you are talking to is a guy since guys don't like to deal with headache compared to their counterparts.

All you have to do is order it through one of the customer kiosks inside the store and chose store pickup, then just go to the BBY.com customer pickup counter and you're good.

I've never once had an issue with them price matching. I usually just show them the price on my iPhone and they say 'No problem.'
