Default Emotiva XPA-3

I just took the plunge and purchased the amp

I'm wondering what peoples opinions are on if my sound should see a nice enhancement with my klipsch RB-51 and RC-62. I am running a yamaha v663.

Certain sounds seem to clip at higher volumns and especially when there is a helicopter type noice, the speakers don't do well. I originally made the move because I know there is more sound to be had from the speakers but my receiver can't pump out what I'm looking for. It's more than I wanted to spend so I'm hoping this isn't a typical chain reaction where now I need to upgrade speakers cuz the amp is too powerful. lol. The specs say peak 300w on the speakers where the xpa-3 is 200w per channel.

Did I make the right move?? In case you didn't notice, I'm more of a react now, deal with it later type of person

I have almost the same setup as you and believe me, you won't be disappointed! You will love the XPA-3 raw power and clarity and sharpness sound you hear will blow you away. You made a great choice!

Peak power is different than continuous power. What are the continuous power rating abilities of your Klipsch speakers?

There is no question the XPA-3 will offer you a cleaner sound, and it was a good choice! Congrats!

HAMP might disagree that you'll hear a difference. He had Klipsch and an Onkyo 805 and couldn't really tell anything other than a seemingly lower output with his Emotiva.

I suppose its all relative anyway. Different ears, the ability to differentiate between sounds you're hearing, the type of connections used (quality), etc.

I think that there definately should be an improved difference, although it may only become apparent in time. People expect a "wow" factor right out of the box, which isn't going to happen a lot of times. You have to live with it for a while.

Well, and as mentioned, the Klipsch are really efficient. I just wanted to let him know it wasn't all wine and roses. I myself haven't ever had the chance to test their equipment.

But as I recall wasn't HAMP using the XPA-7 which is only 125 watts into 8 ohms a channel with lower output than the XPA-3 (200 watts into 8 ohms). At this point unfortunately for HAMP we will never know if he would hear a difference.

And that's really sad! I hate to hear stuff like that, but a lot of us have been victims as well.

True and true. He really didn't get a chance to tweak it extensively.

Thanks for the info everyone. I'm very excited to get the amp running. It's been a long time coming!

I'm curious on two things
What happened to Hamp?
Why was this moved? It is an amplifier subject? My apologies for the wrong forum.

Unfortunately, this is what happened, and we all here at Blu-ray.com feel terrible about it:

Congratulations. I'm happy with mine. I like to watch concert blus at fairly high volumes and the XPA-3 gives me plenty of head room.

This could be hit or miss with the amp/Klipsch. I think though with having almost twice the wattage of the upa-7 hamp was using...better klipsch speakers you should be able to tell the difference. Congrats!!!

I see you lurking on this amp Jason....get it...find a way. I'm sure it haunts you and you have many sleepless nights because you don't have it yet. I get an XPA-5 I'll cut you a deal on my XPA-3
