Default PS3 price drops, new SKU's or bundles

I am 100% positive this is going to happen. The reason why Sony "denied" any such plans is simple.. Anyone who hears that it is going to happen will surely hold off buying a PS3 for the next 2 weeks, which will hurt sales in that time period.

But seriously, $499 and FIVE free Blu-Ray dvds!!! That's a $250 discount. I don't even have 5 Blu-Ray movies yet!

Anyone who was previously complaining about the price should have no reason to anymore... But I can see those who don't have HDTV's may still not be able to justify spending $500. Even then, go sell the 5 BD's.

We'll know for sure at E3. If in fact it does turn out to be fake.. nothing will be mentioned there.

I don't know if the two could be related as far as whether or not they will drop the price. Look at the HD-DVD camp they keep offering more and more HD-DVD's and making $100 price cuts.

The 5 free Blu-ray movies is a promotion offered by the BDA not Sony in particular, even though they are the biggest player in that arena. So I think if a price drop is around the corner the fact that the BDA is offering the 5 free will not affect the price cut from Sony.

i`ts just good buisness to get the hardware out there and to give people blu-ray dvds so they can expereince the best in audio and video, even if they are gamers its a smart move in the long run to get people to realize that hey even if I do buy a ps3 the movies kick ass too! hence more will be bought and the good word is spread

Some people over at AVM$ have reported that some Target stores have already started selling the PS3 at $499.

It seems much more likely for Christmas than summer. Why do it now when you have people in a spending mood at the end of the year?

Maybe when the 80 gig model comes out it will replace the 600 dollar spot, and the 60 gig will be 500, just a theory.
