the mag has HDMI Audio Output
Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital Lossless, Dolby True HD, DTS, DTS HD, Linear PCM so what should I look for in a receiver? Out of these two will the VSX-519V-K do the trick? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....5494188&catId= |

Personally I am not a big fan of the new X19 series receivers that Pioneer has put out. They are rating very low on the bench testing at only producing 28 wpc on the 1019. If the 519 is using a smaller amp or powersupply it may not even give you 28 wpc when pushing 5 or more channels. I would consider an Onkyo 507 or the Denon 1610 or even the Sony STR-DH800. |

No you do not need the receiver to decode everything because it looks as if the Blu-ray player can do that. CORRECT? You just need a receiver that will accept LPCM signal and output the audio.... the Sony STR-DH700 or the Pioneer 519 will both be able to do that.
I just suggested those 3 as plausable alternatives since they would be better units. |

I guess what I'm asking is if you look at the specs for the two I listed it shows Dolby Digital Decoder, DTS Decoder, DTS ES Discrete 6.1, DTS ES Matrixed 6.1, DTS 96/24, and DTS Neo 6 then in the general description it says Surround sound decoders
Include Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS, DTS-HD, DTS 96/24 and 14 advanced surround modes to customize your listening experience so I guess I really don't know the difference between these. All I want is a receiver that will decode all the surrounds as of now so there is no future upgrade needed in 6-8 months. |

the Pio 519 will not decode the HD audio formats of Dolby Digital True HD or dts HD-Master Audio.
However, your blu-ray player will decode both HD audio formats so that you can send a PCM signal to the Pio 519 and get the "HD/lossless" audio. Honestly I think what you are asking is a way to justify the purchase of the Pio 1019, and I would say that the 1019 will be a better unit to get, and yes will be a little more future proofed, although I would still suggest the Onkyo 607 or Sony STR-DN1000 over the Pioneer. |

Well then there you go.... It appears that the magnavox will have to bitstream the HD audio to a receiver to decode, so you will want to get one of the first 3 or last 2 receivers that I suggested. Again they are the Denon 1610, the Sony STR-DH800 or STR-DN1000, or the Onkyo 607 or 507. Personally I would go with the DN1000 or the 607.
