Default $49 BD Players Possible For Black Friday

Quote:
With mass pricing already dipping to below $200 on brand-name models, Rubin doesn’t think it is out of the question to see $49 Blu-ray player offers around Black Friday.

“It’s conceivable we could see a $49 Blu-ray player on Black Friday, but I think we’ll see more $99 deals,” said Rubin. “Anything is possible.”

That would be outrageous! That would bring in so many new BD users. Wow, fantastic deal.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. A $49 blu-ray player sounds like a pipe dream right now but I guess we'll wait and see.

That dollar figure seems unlikely. I could see a store having an ultra-limited quantity available at that price as a doorbuster, but do not expect Walmart to have 200 units at each store for that price.

I don't think it's out of the question at all, especially for some sort of early bird special, etc.

However, I think what's more likely is either another free movie rebate (buy a player, get 5x movies) or free movies in-store with players @ $99.

Doesn't sound that outrageous to me. I mean we already have $99 players and I can see stores getting limited quantities of these models to get people into the stores for the other sale items.

These would be bottom level players, probably making a mass migration to the Returns department right on the last possible day...when the players can't be updated, or whatever.

Stores get burned by this all the time, it's not worth it, even as a doorbuster. This year, everybody will be giving these kind of deals the sniff test.

Money is tight, folks.

I could use one for my room, I guess. It would have to be used with optical cables, though.

Seeing as we've already seen $98 players earlier this year, it certainly seems possible that cheaper Magnavox, Sylvania, etc. players could reach this price for a few hours this holiday season.
