Default In wall speakers and possible issues.

So I want to replace my surround speakers. I have a smaller area, so I was gonna do in wall speakers for the side surround speakers. The depth I have to work with on one side is only 2.5" The other side I have unlimited depth. So on the side with only 2.5", how do I get past this dilemma? Can I create some kind of box to hold the speaker? I only need a half inch more to accomodate the speakers I am looking at.

Any suggestions?

A typical wall depth is 3.5" so construction of a small box would be your best bet if you cannot mount them totally inside the wall cavity.

For aesthetics, I would do them the same way on both sides. You could make the boxes and then put some polyfill behind them.
