Question In-wall speakers

im starting to see more and more of these. ive got a few questions about them:

1) how are they "assembled" (i.e. do they actually go IN your wall? or just on them? )

2) is the quality the same as any other speaker?

3) any other relevant info i should know?

yes they go in the wall,

they can sound as good as typical speakers depending on the speaker you choose and how it is installed, usually the manual will tell you the best way to install them. Most of the newer in-wall speakers attach to the drywall and don't need studs so they can be mounted anywhere on the wall.

I would audition as many as you can because the can sound very different depending on the manufacture. I have used Paradigm in-walls and have auditioned many brands and found them to be the most accurate.

Good luck, i'm sure others on the forms might be able to add to the post.

Default debating em myself

ive seen em in person def techs they do in deed actually go inside ur wall meaning you basically get packed in with the speakers or if ur really lucky measure n make ur own template to cut out holes in ur sheet rock or whereva there goin in and they have brackets that clamp on to the inner walls for support the speakers go in there and the grills over em and voila! speakers if done correctly flush with the rest a ur wall and a lotta models come w/paintable mesh grilles so u can paint em same color as ur wall really make em blend in look great sound great and worth the xtra $ in my opinion if ur really into that professional looking wow result from friends and family when they come over cant comment on other brands really as def techs are what im really leaning towards and maybe the new pioneer elite in walls that are out but thats jus to match the whole elite setup im goin for lol

I really like mine, you can look at my gallery and see what they look like installed, If I had to do all over again I would not change the speakers.

Love the way my sound. Take a look at my gallery. I actually have mine mounted in my vaulted ceiling. Sound is awesome. I also love the cleanliness look it gives. Only wires you can see are at the subs.

Just ordered some 6.5" in-walls from monoprice for around $40.

I don't expect these to be anywhere near as good as my Klipsch RS-52 were but for the price I'll just dump them if they're truly horrible.

Just sick of huge towers on the corner or large speakers taking over my walls. Hopefully the clean look of some in-walls works out!

Yeah you can pigeonhole yourself to one configuration of your theater, but then alot of my crap is in one possible location so it wasn't a big deal.

Hi Erman,

There is a great Canadian speaker company offering very high quality in-wall audio speakers; Axiom (axiomaudio.com). I owned the W3 and W100 and they are fabulous speakers. According to Axiom the "W" sounds exactly as their regular speaker models on a wall bracket which is pretty exceptional.
