Nice job...... Since you painted the screen, I thought I would suggest this (which was done by another member)

Use Molding, painted black, for your screen frame. I think this looks amazing, and if I had a painted screen, I would do it in a heart-beat (I may do it anyways, if I decide to make a new screen!)

O.K....

I can't find the member/pictures etc..... anyone know who it was that did this???? It looked FANTASTIC....

He had a beige room if I'm not mistaken..... it all looked great.... B&W CMTs perhaps? or older S models..... heck I can't remember.

Thanks. I actually used 3in molding and wrapped it with triple plush black velvet for the frame. That velvet just sucks up any bit of overflow.

Yeah.... I can't explain it without the link

The molding he used was sort of like crown-molding upside-down...... it was "Dramatic" it really popped off the wall..... wish I could find the pictures

Outstanding Home Theater Room .

And seeing it Progress from Beginning to End is Simply Amazing. You put in a Lot of Time and Effort into getting a Room that Is Simply So Amazing.

You Succeeded in Creating a Room I Would Love to Have for my Own.Congratulations on Having Such A Tremendous Outcome with the Screen and The Painting(including the ceiling)I Imagine reflections do not exsist in that Awesome Room.

Welcome to The Home Theater Gallery Thread,And Thank You For Saring Your Pictures as well as you Home Theater with us.

WOW! Nice looking room. I was unsure of the Chocolate/Burgundy combo, but the final outcome looks beautiful!

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the kind words.

There was quite a bit of satisfaction having done it all on my own. And I saved a Sh!%-ton of money as well.

@talstarone: Your right. No reflections at all. I didn't enjoy painting the ceiling while I was doing it but I know it has made a tremendous impact on the overall room and picture.

@Beta Man: If you do use moulding or anything else for that matter to frame your screen I really would recommend wrapping it with triple plush black velvet as opposed to painting it black. While the paint would be ok it would still allow a bit of light to show on the moulding from any picture overflow. That velvet I used completely sucks up the light like a black hole.

@Hamp: If you've got the money I've got the time lol!

@everyone else: Thanks again for the compliments. It was about 3 weeks straight of work but in the end it was unbelievably rewarding for a movie, TV, and gaming nut like myself to finish. If you guys have any questions please feel free to ask and thanks again.

Nice job Ron. And welcome to the site. On the painted screen, is the wall textured or just smooth sheet rock??

I didn't actually paint the wall. Because the X10 has such a low throw and I only have 8 foot ceilings I had to tilt the projector up. Otherwise the bottom of the picture would have only been about 10" from the floor. To avoid using any keystoning to correct the picture distortion caused by the tilt I built a frame, mounted a 54x96 piece of sheetrock in it and tilted the frame out at the top.
