I'm one of the growing number of users who suffer HDMI incompatibilities between the PS3 and their TV. Therefor, even though I have HDMI, I can't use it properly. I get really nasty banding and a sort of screen-door effect on PS3 menus from HDMI which aren't there in component. I heard of a guy with a new Panasonic projector having the same issues.
I would like to suggest that Sony allow 24fps via Component, if possible, as well as SD DVD upscaling (upscaling being more important for me). Because I have to use the PS3's component out, I lose good upscaling. |

Just curious. I'm sure it wouldn't work, but what if the player upconverts via hdmi to an AV receiver and the AV receiver is hooked to the TV via component? Have that blocked that as well?
It really bites being an early adopter who bought a 65" set before hdmi was even out. ![]() |

Is there an HDMI to component adapter anywhere that would allow this to work? Not interested in making copies but I would like to see what I've paid for.

I have an even worse probem.....and I'm not upgrading my set.
My Sony KV-34XBR800 has a DVI input which in the manual clearly states that it is HDCP compliant, but my PS3 will not output a picture though it! My Directv HR20 works fine through the HDMI to DVI connection. I've switched cables.....tried the "hold the button down" trick.....made sure the PS3 is set to not output 1080p since my set only accepts 1080i....etc, etc, etc. Sucks! The PS3 easily recognizes the HDMI connection on my Vizio 32" set in the bedroom. So I'm using the component connection from the PS3 to the TV and am not able to take advantage of what's offerred via HDMI. Why would this not work if the TV is HDCP compliant? When I've got some time to waste I'll call Sony.....probably won't do any good. Is there a work-around? |
