Default Best wall mount for 52-xbr4?
I'm thinking I want to mount my 52-xbr4 to the wall. Who makes the best mounts? The ones that tilt and also extend out seem pretty cool. And are these things a pain in the ass to install and mount the tv? I attached a pic. I want to move the center up to the top which I think will produce better sound being higher. And then put the bottom stuff to the middle and then get an Emotiva XPA-5 for the bottom. Thanks for any help in advance. craig Last edited by freestyle99; 12-19-2009 at 06:42 PM. |

Flat out, this is the best mount:
http://www.chiefmfg.com/productdetail.aspx?MountID=55 I used the PDR mount for my XBR4 52", and you can hang an anvil off this thing. It's very strong. The optional speaker mount is set up for bottom mounting (your picture link came up invalid) but you can improvise. It's easy to install - you need to find studs to bolt it to, that's it - but it's heavy, so eat your Wheaties or have somebody give you a hand. Adjustments are a snap, and it extends a whopping amount - mine is about 20" from the wall, and you can pull it out about 26" and it still doesn't wobble. Mine was around $600 two years ago, but they're less than that now. If you can grab it, go for it. |

Awesome, thanks bro. Any issue with metal studs? I've seen some say don't put a mount into metal studs. Gotta actually check, but I think they are metal.
I just re uploaded the pic. I can see it when I click it, wonder why it says invalid. craig Last edited by freestyle99; 12-19-2009 at 06:42 PM. |

There's an assortment of bolts in the package, for different types of installs. Nice place! One reason I didn't use the PDR in my living room is because it's definitely not a low profile unit, and I was on a flat wall. When retracted, it's about four or five inches from the wall and fairly visible from the side. So I hung the Kuro from a low profile non-moving mount I'm not really crazy about. The Sony is in a nook with the PDR, and it's perfect. Make sure you're ready to see hardware from the side (mine is powdercoat gray, I think they have a black one, too) and it's a high-tech looking thing, but bulky because it's so dang strong. |

Chief makes brute-force, handle-anything mounts, and I'm probably going to move to one for my Kuro 60" eventually. I'd like to go tilt-extend-swivel, and I had to cross off Monoprice - their descriptions clearly stated some limitations for big monitors, and I'm an advocate of overkill. Wear suspenders AND belt when hanging a large monitor... Straight tilt isn't nearly as tough to handle, and I agree that Monoprice would be a good spot for simply tilt or flush mount. |
