Default Finally subbing

So I am finally getting a sub, the girlfriend and I were watching Harry Potter HBP and it hit us how awfully bad we need one. I can spend no more than 500$. Can someone point me to the best possible choice? Thanks boys (and girls).

room is about 35 feet long, about 15 feet wide, hardwood floors, a few rugs, seating for 14. Mainly for movies but will also be used for games quite a bit.

Couple options... With a room that big you might want to go dual 12s possibly or maybe even 15s if you can swing it,

Ill wait for the other members to chime in that know a little more about the pricing, but Whats gonna be suggested is

eD A2-300
Acoustic audio HD sub 12/15
Premier acoustics PA120
Polk PSW110 / 505

Those are just a few i own / have owned or hear good things about .. With the eD being the top choice I would assume.. But the others will be able to give you a lot of suggestions as well

Forgot about some of the SVS subs as well.

Heres a good link as well where another member was looking at subs around $500

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=119911

Although this might not be the best reference for you, since it seems your room is alot biggger

I'm not looking to go professional with it, I don't have the time or money to do what I'd really like to do but I definitely need more bass. Was looking ar Klipsch but it seems a lot of people can't stand them. I am new to the audio side of it all.

What does going professional have to do with anything if your on a budget? Klipsch are nice, I had the HD sub 12 , but to get it now is gonna be near $500 and you can get alot more sub for less $$ if you look at the eD especially

I haven't read anything about anyone hating the klipsch sub-12, I heard people not liking the speakers.

What is the rest of your system?

I recently picked up a 10" Earthquake sub and the thing is an absolute monster. I can't recommend their subs enough. If interested in their product line check out http://www.dmc-electronics.com or ebay (which is where I found mine). I got an unreal deal on mine, but in general their subs are affordable and mine performs well out of its price range.

Hey man i would definitely go with SVS, 3 year bumper to bumper warranty and us made drivers, the quality really shows with svs. I have owned a few different subs and SVS is the way to go.

Maybe this a dumb question...

Why is 1 400 watt 10 inch sub costing so much more than 2 smaller watt 12s? I am totally new to audio and don't understand most of the jargon so if it sounds like a dumb question you'll know where I am coming from.

Should I get the 2 200 watt 12s or 1 450 watt 10? I just want to get the best for my money.

It depends on the company, the build quality, the parts used, labor, marketing costs, ect. Which subwoofers are you referring to?

build quality, parts used, sound quality, Power handling, performance...

Not to sound like a n00b lesson #1

Dont use the term "watt" or "watts" when referring to a sub.. Try actually saying the name of the sub..

There are several good subs you could look into. Klipsch subs are Ok, their speakers are good, but their sound isn't for everyone.

Anyways the subs you may want to consider are
http://www.hsuresearch.com
Hsu FTV-1
Hsu STF-2
Hsu VTF-2 MK3

http://www.svsound.com
SVS PB-NSD10

http://www.outlawaudio.com
LMF-1

http://www.edesignaudio.com
eD A2-300
eD A3-250
eD A2-250
eD A3s-250

Those are your best possible choices.

500$ for this room will not be enought to reach an excellent BASS,

however for the budget 2 PSW505 will be good or 1 DSW pro 600 will be good , even thought ur room is at least a 2 subs room, 1 sub will not be able to evenly cover such a room speacially with that amount of seats.

don't go smaller than 12", usually the larger the woofer the easier it can go lower (size of the driver is relative to the wavelenght it can generate),
this is taking into consideration that u are picking from a quality selection otherwise forget the above note.

good luck

good luck

As far as output goes, 1 psw505>1 dsw pro 600 imo
