HTiB run at 6ohms I remember hearing, correct?
I got two tower speakers from a buddy of mine that have a 15" subwoofer, 4" mid, and a 3" tweeter. The normal impedence on them is 8ohms, and max 120w of power. So having a receiver from a HTiB, and 8ohms needing more power, is it not sending as much to the towers? If I was to get a new receiver, would it make them louder? The kid I got them from said they were real loud at his dads house, and I kind of want them to be.. |

Listing your equipment will allow people to help you more. But yes, chances are you'll hear an improvement in sound with a better power source in a new receiver and/or amplifier. |

Loud can be a subjective word per se.
Short answer, yes you can acheive it even with such a receiver. i dont think youd need a new AVR to just accomplish a louder volume so to speak. considering your AVR also can handle 8ohms, your pretty much in business. |

When I have it set to two channel, they sound good put once I enable Dolby it seems to all go to the center speaker and the towers make hardly any noise and it's all distorted.

![]() on a serious note, one reason the fronts arent getting 'much action' is the fact that most of the detail is anchored in the center channel, thus my previous indication of how you can maximize the experience by simply using the two as a stereo setting. again, its a matter of preference, and some people can get by doing so. 5.1 is also my deferred preference, but i wouldnt find myself enjoying it so much if my speakers arent 'blending' in properly. |

alot of sony (and other brands) Htib are made with already exisiting, sold seperately receivers (including that one you listed.) Usually if the receiver is real thin or has a built in dvd player or something it is made for a box set for day one.
