I bought the God of War I & II collection a few weeks back as part of the first few games for my new PS3.
God of War I is just epically awesome. *some Spoilers ahead* (sorry don't know how to do that Spoiler linkage) The moment where you are on the ledge of Pandora's mountain looking down at the titan below you... just awesome. I wish it was just a little more breathtaking, but I just sat there watching and digging that whole moment. I like how at the beginning of the game you fight the Hydra, but then there's no real epic boss like that for awhile. Which is great. I was almost expecting an epic boss every so often. This game is great. It's a button mashfest, but it does require a little strategy, especially at the part where i'm at regarding the human sacrifices. Grrr frustrating!! Lovin it. Can't wait to finish and get on to II and then III when it comes out. So glad I got the PS3. |

A buddy of mine raves about this game. He loaned it to me. I fought the hydra with no problem, but died at least 30 times just trying to cross from boat to boat on the fallen masts. There's one obvious flaw. The main reason I can't get into it though is that it just feels too much like some old button-puncher I would play at the local convenience store.

At first I thought these were button mashers, but it mixes a lot of different elements. I never played them on the ps2 but just got the collection on ps3. I just finished the first game and it was awesome. Some parts were extremely hard and frustrating but an awesome game. Can wait to start the second one.

I also love the way the different blades handle. They actually feel different during combat.
The only nits I have with GOW I are: #1 the graphics are dated - but that's entirely my fault for not owning a PS system when this came out. Besides, they aren't that bad. They don't break the game for me. #2 I wish the finishing moves slowed down just a tad, like matrix-style a little. I would enjoy it a little more if it slowed down enough so you could see medusa's head being ripped off or the blades being shoved into necks & eyes. You can see, but it happens so fast you know.. and sometimes the blood and all gets in the way. Just an extra split second to slow it down and drag it out you know.. LOL ![]() |

Welcome to the PS3 club
![]() Yeah the God of War series (so far) has been outstanding. When I first played it I too thought it was just a button masher, but once you figure out the controls and the assortment of combos you can pull off, it's a feeling I can't even begin to describe. It's so f*ckin awesome! Glad you're enjoying the game. And as with everyone here, can't wait for GoWIII. |

I am also quite new to the series, with my first playthroughs being the GoW collection. I played through GoW and GoW2 on God mode right away, no messing with normal. Blocking and rolling are huge in this game. When I first started GoW, I just tried to attack, never blocking and I got my ass kicked. Took me awhile to figure out you can't beat the games without playing a little defense. I borrowed the collection to a friend and now he has converted to the series. Can't wait to get it back and conquer the games in Titan mode, as well as getting the platinums.

If I remember correctly, hard mode is called God mode while very hard is called Titan mode. Maybe it's the other way around, not sure. Either way I played it on hard mode.

God of War 2's hardest mode is Titan mode. Again, you have to beat the game on Normal to unlock it. |

Ahh, so I was half right. GoW franchise=greatest franchise of all time. I'm seriously debating upgrading my pre-order to the Ultimate edition. I just KNOW that GoW3 will be the greatest game of all-time.

I am new to the series as well, but I am really glad Sony put out this collection for the PS3. It's been great so far and I'm glad I'll be caught up before God of War III comes out. |
