Hi--sorry about the lack of info --i have the Onkyo sr 606 with a slim ps3 ---hooked up via HDMI --first noticed rear speakers not working while watching uk issue of terminator salvation (dts-HD ) and then USA issue of transformers (not cartoon movie ) which is DOLBY TRUE HD---then tried uk issue of the dark knight (DOLBY TRUE HD ) and uk issue of DEJAVU (Denzel )--dtsHD and both these films worked fine on rear speakers--i really dont know what is going on.....

thats the other thing you didn't state as requested, how many speakers do you have 5 or 7? sometimes people say rear speakers when they mean surround or surround side speakers. more times than not rear speakers mean surround back which would mean there are 7 speakers involved. also what do you have your ps3 slim set for audio? |

Please give us as much detailed information as you can, including equipment, type of connections used, receiver sound settings, etc. What are the specific circumstances that the rear speakers work and don't work? What sound codec is used when they work?
The more information you can provide, the better we can help you diagnose the problem. |

you could try resetting the ps3, turn it off, unplug it, plug it back in, press and hold power button and wait for two beeps, ps3 will turn its self off after the two beeps, then turn it on as normal and set up the resolution, input and output for video/audio etc I then set the output to bitstream (im using optical cable) and now it works....
hope it works for you, i did it after my rear speakers stopped playing for blurays (worked for games tho ![]() I am using a 2009 ht-tx725 samsung home cinema in a box system with true colours industries coral optical cable and a ps3 slim connected to samsung series 7 40" led (lcd) tv with qed hdmi-p cable Last edited by superstareddie; 01-19-2010 at 11:15 AM. |

You wouldn't happen to have the surround speakers hooked up to the rear surround inputs on the back of the receiver would you? This may explain why you get the intro stuff on them as you stated, but you lose the audio when a 5.1 track is played. Just taking a stab at this and throwing something else out there to think about........

Also, why do you have the optical digital out on the PS3 set to anything? You aren't trying to output from both HDMI and optical at the same time, are you? I don't think this is it (as you are getting the Onkyo HD audio lights to come on), but thought I'd ask. |
