Please Help PS3 stopped working - Blu-ray Forum

so i try to turn on my ps3 for the first time today and doesn't even get to the startup screen. The green light has a red ring around it and then it changes and starts flashing red. Idk what to do. This sucks so bad.

i have the original 60 gb version.

... sorry dude your ps3 is DONE!!! this happend to me back in OCT, if its out of warrenty its going to cost you $162 and they will replace it with a refurbished ps3... took me about 2 weeks for a replacement so get started asap...

No way it could be dead. PS3's don't die. right?

Sorry about yours. Hopefully it is at least still under warranty so you don't have to spend $150.

nope bought it right when it came out 600 friggin dollars. now i have to pay for even more money. BS.

There's a red ring that can go around a green light on the PS3? I don't see that on mine. I've only seen that on my 360.

Do they at least send you the same model? I'm sure the TS wants a 60gb unit back instead of one missing many of the features the 60gb has.

Try to shut it down with the button on the back and then start it again,maybe this could work?

tried the shutting off and on from the back switch method. To no avail. I just sent them an email basically telling them how i feel about them making me pay almost the same price as a brand new 360 to just refurb my faulty system and that i should not have to pay. Hopefully the buying a 360 threat will get em.

My 60gb failed in September and they sent me a refurbished 60gb unit. No worries, but if you can take your hard drive out and back it up.

You'll get a letter in return stating, go ahead and buy a 360. You'll be back in 12 months when it dies. That's the best I could do trashing my game system of choice.

Electronics fail, it has nothing to do with who made it. Some devices fail more frequently than others. If that's how you feel about it though, sell it on Craigslist telling someone that it will cost $150 to fix and take any money you get towards your Xbox 360.

$150 < $400 for new 80gb PS3

It's even less than the $250 you'd pay for an Xbox 360 with a 60gb drive.

Does it suck? Yes. Is it worth it? That's your call.

If that's your main use, then go for it. You might be surprised what someone would pay for a 60gb unit that needed repaired. Then again it might not bring very much at all.

No offense friendo..but I think you're being irrational which I understand your $500 gaming system just died. Electronics fail that is the risk in the reward. It's still a relatively small failure rate...I would contest the 3% they give on the 60GB though. I have a theory that the emotion chip caused more problems than expected in the launch systems (besides adding costs).

My 60GB died last month....

I think you should save your milk money and get your 60gb ps3 fixed. If not I'll give you $75 for it.
