My question is, where is the original version? I really don't have any desire to even see the English remake, especially as it's supposedly a shot-by-shot replica.

great edge of the seat thriller!!! I watched this last night and was engrossed, The PQ was more than amazing, Most films like this are lackluster PQ, definite overkill but made the viewing experience that much better.

Definitely don't let anyone borrow any eggs

+1

The re-make is a Hollywood glorified puke of a version! We need the original German version on Blu-ray!!

Nothing, other than that the Tartan one is out of print and won't be available any more when current copies have sold out. https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=4182

I don't think much else is known yet, but the extras could be different.

Anyway, I thought the remake was actually very well handled, no better or worse than the original. After all, what has changed other than the language and location? I can't see any way in which it has been "Hollywoodized," it's still visceral stuff.

I see the price on Amazon for the Tartan release has shot up. I only paid £7.98 for it.

Really?? I think the re-make lacks all the intensity and grittiness of the original. The original really got under my skin and stayed there. The US re-make had the feel of a big Hollywood studio production all over it, and it just didn't do the impact that the raw and dirty German original did.

Maybe it's the actors? Well know Hollywood actors usually ruin some of the trustworthiness in a movie. Maybe that's why I prefer the original?
