Default Any Kindle owners here?

My wife's b-day is coming up and I thought about getting her some books and a booklight for reading at night.

Then I thought about the Kindle for $259. Hmm... $259... that's about the cost of 20-30 newbooks.

So I'd like to know if anyone owns the Kindle and if you honestly think it's better than buying books, even used books?

Thanks

My partner bought one a few weeks back (Kindle 2), and I'm not exaggerating when I say they are always reading it ! Got it with the cover and reading light. I thought it might be a 5 minute wonder, but I couldn't have been more wrong.

Here it is:

The screen is most bizarre on it - the fact that you can read it in bright daylight.

I want one so badly but I can't afford to drop $260 at the moment, maybe when I get more hours at work.

we have a kindle, its super easy to use and yeah its expensive, but its so much easier that buying books, and they are slightly cheaper and download t othe kindle in about 30 seconds-1minute, if you read a lot, i would recommend getting one, it will definitely pay for itself

What light did you get? I got my wife the DX model for Christmas and have been thinking about a light for her. Yours looks like a nice light.
