Default Amazon Kindle Question.

I have a question for anyone out there that has one of these.

When you buy a book and add it to your Kindle is it in your account forever? Can you delete it off the Kindle and then re-add it for free at a later time?

I'm really thinking about getting one of these.

The short answer is yes, but Google around for lots of stories about people not being able to retrieve books later, or having Amazon arbitrarily delete them from your Kindle w/o your permission. I <3 Amazon, but I haven't been impressed with how they've handled this.

That's why I pre-ordered a NOOK from B&N. Not only does it run Android OS--which means the possibility of widgets and apps--but it has a color menu/browser, uses 3G, and you can "loan" books to friends freely for 14 days (albeit only once, which makes sense). But the best part is that they've partnered with Google Library to bring over 500,000 titles for FREE.

I'm expecting delivery on mine next week, but B&N says some pre-orders have been pushed out as far as January. First come, first serve.

You can delete it from the Kindle but to restore it to your Kindle without paying again, follow this path:

Amazon.com > Your Account > Manage your Kindle

Scroll to the "Your Orders Section" and then click the drop-down box that says "Deliver to..." next to the book you want to restore to the Kindle.

You do own the book "forever" as far as Digital Rights go but if Amazon.com is legally obligated to remove a selection, either due to copyright dispute or other legal issue, then Amazon.com may have to pull the selection from devices. However, Amazon.com will not just keep your money. They will refund the purchase price of the title to your chosen form of payment.

Well the re-download sounds like it IS possible. I'll have to look into this NOOK thing though. I do loves me some android and full color.

EDIT: It looks like titles aren't free on Nook. Just the first chapter or so. Still a lot of damn good features though.
