Default Das Boot

So I haven't heard anything about a BD release, used the search and saw nothing about it. No word on if this will ever get released on BD?

I'm a big sub movie fan, love the isolation and tension in them, Silent Hunter 5 is getting ready to come out on PC, so time to start buying some sub movies on BD, since I don't actually own any yet.

At this point, this would qualify as a "Wish List" subject. I haven't heard a whisper about either the theatrical version, the director's extended cut, or the original television cut. Any (or preferably all) would be terrific on BD. For now, I'm happy with my DVDs.

Default Crimson tide.....

Crimson Tide is pretty good, but if you haven't seen it, Hunt For Red October is a definite must. Over a year ago, I swear I read someplace that Das Boot is being prepped for Blu. I just hope when it finally comes out it is the long version.

The Hunt for Red October is a better movie IMO, but Crimson Tide is a solid action/suspense movie. Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman do a good job of elevating it beyond your typical meathead military fare. When you watch it try to spot the horrible Tarantino dialog. James Gandolfini and Viggo Mortenson have minor roles.

Das Boot is one of my most wanted BDs. I would love the release to have all versions, but I would like the entire German miniseries version the most. That said, it is also the most realistic having been on several subs. The next, if you can believe it, is U-571 just for the sets. The big new nuclear subs actually seem to me to have less space in them than WWII subs, which makes me laugh when I see people jogging with their dogs in a nuclear sub, as in Crimson Tide.

I liked Das Boot but HFRO was just more exciting.

I am surprised it has not seen release in any country. By now you figure it would have been released in Europe.
