Default help me pick one plzzz

i bought the klipsch quintet 5's the other day for a really good price. i love the speakers but my old sub (jbl) is killing the sound for me. I was looking at the Klipsch sw-450 and the AA HD-sub12.

I know for the price of the sw-450 i can probably get 2 hd-sub 12's. But something about buying a speaker i've never heard is difficult. Also the convenience of going to a store for the Klipsch.

Or maybe you could recommend another one.

thanks

Any recommendations would be helped if we knew what budget you are playing with.....

Like Fors said, knowing your budget would go a long way to helping you. I can estimate, based on the subs you mentioned, that you're looking to keep it under $450 ~ $500. Keep in mind, that you're going to have a hard time finding a "best bang for the buck" type of sub in a store in that price range. ID companies (internet direct) are really the way to go with subs. I agree with you that it is hard to pull the trigger on something as important as your sound based solely on faith without hearing it for youself. With that being said, this is much easier to accept with a subwoofer than it is with speakers. The convenience of being able to go to the store is nice, but not necessary.

I've got two Elemental Designs A2-300 subs that beat the pants off anything comparably priced that I've heard in Best Buy. I don't pretend that there aren't better subs out there, only that they will cost a lot more. The eD A2-300 is highly regarded to be the best "bang for your buck" sub. For $350 shipped, you will not find a better deal in a store, and you would be hard pressed to find a better deal online.

As for the 2 AA subs, I do subscribe to the belief that 2 subs > 1 sub. I've never heard the AA subs, but I chat with other members on this forum who own them. Callas01 has an AA sub and an eD sub. You could send him a PM for his input, but all the conversations I've had with him - he raves about the eD...so read into that what you will. My advice? Buy a single A2-300 now and save up to purchase a 2nd in the near future.

For $500 I would look at the Internet Direct companies as Progers stated.
The eD A2-300 would be solid choice
http://www.hsureasearch.com would have the STF-2, VTF-1 or VTF-2 that would all be great choices also
Then http://www.svsound.com would have the PB10 NSD and PB12 NSD that would be up there with the others too.

oh, one last thing, completely avoid the Acoustic Audio subs, they are having way to many issues now and really my 1 eD pounds the AA I have, and it isn't even close, I don't think 2 AAs would even be close to the eD.

I have to agree with everyone else, eD A2-300. Like callas said, Hsu & SVS would also be very good options with a $500 budget.

yea it looks like the a2-300 is the better bang for $350. plus it does look sick with that port only. Also i have a 2yr old, so i wont get mad if he scratches it up a little or worry about him hitting the sub.

thanks again guys

There is a 3 to 4 week wait for Elemental Designs to build your A2-300, but it will be worth it.

The eD is definetly worth the wait, the other sub I have heard that does it for me is the VTF-2 by Hsu. However you will pay more for it. The eD is awesome.... I love it.

If you are in a hurry and want good value, Cadence makes very good subwoofers.

I'm not familiar with them at all BD. Thanks for posting the link. In your opinion how do you think their subs stack up against the likes of SVS, HSU, Epik, eD, or AV123?

What I do read about them is all good, but you're right that they're not mentioned very much.
