Default Hdmi switch - running tv & projector

I'm sure this has been discussed but could not find a senario that matched my situation. I currently have an Onkyo 605 running my hdtv box, blu-ray player and plasma. I'm looking to add my projector in the mix. The pj is currently going from hdmi to dvi-d into the pj. I have a monoprice 4x1 switch that I would like to use but I'm thinking I need a 4x2 with two hdmi out's.

Is there a way to manipulate my current switch so I can run both the tv and pj to it and switch between the two? I tested the switch last night and it will work through the receiver with the projector by itself or the tv by itself.
Thanks

Seems like you beat me to it...I use a splitter and it works great between my projector and TV. I have never had an issue with PQ or AQ using it.

Which particular one do you use? I have a 50" run and want to make sure it doesn't have any issues. Are you able to run your tv and projector at the sametime or just one or the other? Thanks

I have the monoprice 1x2 splitter w/ the 1 coming out of my AVR and the 2 going to my LCD and a long balun run to my projector. Both run at the same time with minimal issues. For some reason, my furnace kicking on likes to knock the splitter offline for a second or two.

I use this one....

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

It has a repeater in it to help maintain the signal for longer runs over 25'. By the way, how thick is your HDMI cable? For a run that long, it really shouldn't be less than 24AWG in my opinion...plus you want it CL2 rated as well.

Hello John.

After reading your scenario, the easiest way to resolve your dilemma is opting for a 2 out switcher. There is another solution, but IMO not the most efficient, but it will work. You could opt for this product.

I hope this is a help. Truly, the best option would be an AVR with 2 HDMI outs. But that's way more expensive!

That's the exact one I just bought. My cable is 24awg and it didn't have any issue through my switch.

Thanks, yeah next receiver will have two out's. The splitter I just picked up seems pretty solid, should work well.
