According to digitalbits.com, the classic Marilyn movie, "The Seven Year Itch", has been scheduled by Fox for April 14th.
YAY! Fox has penciled in April 14th for a Blu-ray release of The Seven Year Itch (1955, with Marilyn Monroe). Hopefully that's just one of several Monroe titles that could appear on that date in high definition. http://www.thedigitalbits.com/articl...ll102808c.html |

Sweet...this does of course have the famous subway vent scene...not that that's why I would want it.
It's a hilarious movie, I really hope they include the audition by Walter Matthau in the extras...funny that they didn't use him because he wasn't "well known enough" |

I agree. I always find more excitement generated around here when a classic film gets announced for Blu-ray, rather than just a more recent film like "Baby Mama" and the like. That's kind of expected, but a classic is something to look forward to.

I never understood what the big deal is about Marilyn Monroe?
I always found her boring in her movies. Only movie I love with her was How To Marry a Millionaire and frankly Lauren Bacall make's this movie more then she does. I don't know just don't see it, never found her that beautiful or talented, way too much hype around her, a bit like James Dean. |

Although the movie's funnier if you accept that Marilyn ISN'T the main character in the story--Tom Ewell's panicky married-man is (seeing as he's on screen for 90% of the movie)...
And that the iconic Upskirt scene really has almost nothing to do with the story whatsoever, and seems to be there only for cheap studio fanservice. ![]() Quote:
![]() If you can't understand the mania (and I can't either, but accept that it's explainable), 7YI is about as close an explanation as you can get. (Comedy seemed to fly over her head though--"Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" practically handed her the opportunity to satirize her image over the top for effect, and she didn't appear to be in on the joke. When she tried playing Scary in "Don't Bother to Knock", though....she came off as just a little too good at playing Unbalanced. ![]() Last edited by EricJ; 02-18-2009 at 11:02 PM. |

So what happened to 7YI anyway? Did it just get dropped and subsequently forgotten by Fox?
And anyone who doubts Marilyn Monroe's credentials as a dramatic actress should see 'Bus Stop'. (And she does a great comedic turn in 'Some Like it Hot' as well.) |
