Canada The Pianist - April 28, 2009

It is up for pre-order on Amazon.ca

http://www.amazon.ca/The-Pianist-Blu...9639403&sr=8-1

Not sure why it is not on Amazon.com, but Columbia House Canada also has it available for pre-order

doesnt appear to be an Alliance title

TVA has the rights to The Pianist in Canada, whereas in the US I believe it is Universal. This may be another Canadian exclusive for a bit, and surprisingly not an Alliance one.

Remember now, Canada no longer has Lionsgate, Maple Pictures distributes the US Lionsgate titles. Looks like it is TVA though, listed here as an April 7th '09 Blu release (odd...): http://www.tvafilms.com/en/index.php...&catid=8:movie

The Pianist is a great film, and I cannot wait to add it to my Blu-ray library.

If this is real and the transfer is good, I will definitely pick this one up. A fantastic film

I'm hoping for strong sales to convince Universal to release it in the U.S.

Great film! I'll add it to the collection when Universal bring it to the US.

I love that cover art... I may have to import this after all...

edit: The cover art is different for Amazon.ca

Where can I get the blu-ray copy of the cover above?

Word of warning, owning this I'll have to warn you that it does say "Region B" on the cover and it's a well known fact that StudioCanal lock their titles. But it's also been stated that the Triangle Trick works on some of these locked titles, including StudioCanal's releases.

on closer inspection, especially on a large screen , you'll find that the studio canal transfer was sub par .
when i see edge enhancement it tells me that they defocused to remove some grain , then artificially sharpen

Ironically this usually looks worse than the original film negative

Default April 28, canadian upcoming release !!!

Why isnt ''The pianist'' listed in the upcoming releases for april 28 ? Can't wait to get this BD. Hopefully PQ and AQ will do it justice. But so far canadian titles are pretty damn good (from dusk till dawn for exemple).

Just saw the disc at Future Shop & it looks like TVA dropped all of the extras.

Out now, but appears as if TVA dropped all the extras from the 2 & 3 disc edition DVDs (3 disc set had soundtrack).

I usually love these types of flicks, but I just didn't get into it, which really rather surprised me. I think I'll do a BD rental before deciding if I should consider buying it later.
