Default I'm sick of hearing that HD DVD is "winning"

I found this on cdrinfo.com:

"Toshiba has announced its third generation of HD DVD players, and puts pressure on the Blu-ray camp by starting prices at $299.99.

Electronics maker Toshiba is ratcheting up competition with the Blu-ray high-definition video camp again, announcing its third generation of its HD-A HD DVD players for the U.S. market. The three new units are timed to hit retailers just as the end-of-year holiday buying season ramps up, and all three units will be priced under under $500, and with low-end pricing starting at just $299.99.

Keeping up with Toshiba's non-stop claims that the HD DVD format is dominating the high-definition market, the VP of Marketing for Toshiba's Digital A/V Group, Jodi Sally, stated: "With a majority market share in unit sales of next generation DVD players, consumers are speaking loud and clear, and they are adopting HD DVD as their HD movie format of choice. Because of the proven manufacturing efficiencies of the HD DVD format, Toshiba can bring this level of innovation in technology to a new generation of players with cutting-edge functionality at affordable prices."

At the low end, the HD-A3 will carry a $299.99 price tag, and feature 1080i output, while the HD-A30 ($399.99) and the HD-A35 ($499.99) offer 1080p/24 output. The HD-A30 and A35 will also offer HDMI-CEC?which Toshiba is calling "CE-Link"?to enable two-way control between the HD DVD player and a television. At the high end, the A35 will support Deep Color, 5.1 analog surround output, 7.1 audio output via HDMI. All three units will sport a slim new chassis design just under 60 mm thick, with a high-gloss black acrylic face. All three new players will support Internet-enabled interactive content.

Toshiba says the A30 should land at retailers in September, with the A3 and A35 following along in October. Of course, as the holiday season gets underway and the Blu-ray camp fires back, consumers can reasonably expect promotions and possibly discount pricing to sweeten deals on both sides of the format war."

If hd-dvd is winning, why do they need to keep dropping their prices?

Why do you let this Bother you? It's kinda pathetic if you're losing sleep over this, ENjoy your Blu Ray player and start watching more movies instead of more stats and news. Or are you one of those people who stares at his neighbors lawn all day wondering if the grass really is greener on the other side?

No, he's someone that hates deliberate lies.

It's called having integrity. Look it up sometime.

So because I own an HD DVD player it means that I have no Integrity? I don't quite follow you wanna go into more detail? Oh and I'm still sticking with the idea that you'd enjoy youself more if you just watched your Blu Ray films more and collected and built your Blu Ray Collection rather then focusing onto who is technically winning the war.

People can read your post history and go no further than about 8 pm EDT last night and see what nonsense and BS you're full of.

I don't have to go into any detail. The work's already been done for me.

I can't believe they are peddling a 1080i stand alone for $299... wonder how many people bought that not knowing it's 1080i.

I hate lies as well. That statement pisses me off too. If you're the type of person that is not bothered the littlest bit by that then there's something wrong with you. And you also probably voted for Bush.... again

Looks like JTK is still serving up roast for breakfast? Is that freshly prepared or just leftovers from last night?

I would like to see what model Sony LCD that he has... I've never heard of a 56" Sony LCD. Or any 56" LCD for that matter.

And there ya go, got yourself banned. I know, you don't care. Dude, you came in looking for a fight stuffing words into peoples mouths and thinking everyone was against you because you owned an HD player. Did you realize there are a number of "high-profile" members here that own an HD player as well. I'm sure we'll see ya over at THAT forum. Well, whatever, I don't care.

His posts from last night probably are what finished it. This is pretty tame today in contrast.

Anyways...now that nonsense is finally done, back to the actual subject of the thread:

I'm with the OP all the way: Seeing and hearing deliberate lies based off of absolutely no foundation gets quite irksome after a point, even on seemingly "trivial" subjects.

That's part of what this place is about: Get away from the lies. Counterprogram, expose, and destroy the lies.

That's too bad he couldn't show us more of that side of him here. He's been posting like someone with a major grudge since last night.

He basically wanted to be banned so I guess he got what he wanted.

Well belive what you want, but I can say that he is in fact kinda wealthy, he get's the start up cash from his Dad, and he invests it homes that he buys and resells, ( we currently live in one). But I can say that he is generous free rent! , at least to me which is great seeing as how I'm still in school, but like I said he's a good guy if you get to know him, really helpful too in technical issues.
