Default Pioneer BDP-330, Any Info Appreciated.

I just bought a Pioneer BDP-330 BluRay player. I want to know if any other people have exsperince in using some of the special features which are offered when using a Pioneer AVR and BluRay player together.

I'm most interested about the PQLS feature. However, I will take any knowledge on Pioneer BluRay players consering this feature and others.

Thanks in advance..

I must say that I'm happy to step into the Lossless audio on BluRays finally because the fat PS3 wasn't cutting it.

How was ur ps3 NOT cutting it? i beleive it still holds its own against any of the top blu ray players out there! If you werent getting lossless audio from it i would have to say u erred in setting it up correctly

I believe it is common knowledge that the old 60 gig PS3 (the fat one) does not play the Dolby Digital HD or DTS Master Audio HD lossless BluRay soundtracks. The fat PS3 will play the lossy soundtrack on the BluRay disc.

The new "slim" PS3 will play the lossless DD HD and DTS HD without any problem.

Very wrong once again the slim ps3 does a lot less than the fats its why they cost less than 1/2 what they did the only difference is the fat ps3 sent out the hd audio formats straight to your reciever and let that decode the slim has the option to decode internally the only diffence? instead of seeing pcm which meant ur avr was decoding the audio is it will now say dtshd or tru hd again there is no diffence lossless is lossless now if the problem is that you DONT have an avr that is or was capable of decoding lossless audio surround sound then u didnt have lossless audio then and u still dont now

Well, if what you say is true then I had an incorrect understanding. Nevertheless, the situation is rectified to my satisfaction.

My SC-35 is now decoding DTS-HD Master Audio on MJ's "This is It" right now.

Thank you.

Well, no bad feelings here. And the truth is, I wanted to see the pretty light too. I was a little worried about let the PS3 decode to PCM instead of the SC-35 which I presume to have a better decoding section.

I don't know, this maybe better or a little wasted money. I also notice that the dialog normalization comes on more. It did not come on during playback of PCM.

i may not be accurate here but i beleive that when the ps3 did the decoding it as pcm it was raw untouched audio signaland dial norm if any was handled before it was sent to ur reciever now that you have the reciever doing the actual decoding of the audio format it now has to also handle dialog normalization and so ur seeing it light up as it process's before it was jus playing and already set audio feed
another thing id like to point out is that you MAY be right in being able to get better audio due to the d.a.c.s in ur elite player over the ps3's but again remeber the ps3 was decoding the audio for u before and essentially just having ur receiver amplify the signal IT was decoding if ud like to do a better comparision switch ur bluray players audio settins to output pcm as ur psm did once again tho ull lose the dts and tru hd tags and have pcm readout again
u now essentialy have 3 different waysto decompress ur audio the ps3 the b ray player or let thereciever do it thru its own d.a.c.s honestly id say let the player handle all the video to the best of its ability and let the reciever handle all the audio thru its d.a.c.s it is an elite receiver after all ice powered lol i for one love my sc-07

Interesting, I also agree that I might be able to get better audio using the Pio Elite's DAC's which I believe is Burr-Brown 192k/24-bit.

However, I'm not sure on not let the SC-35 AVR process the video. The SC-35 has Marvell's advanced Qdeo video processing which is flaunted as a good thing. The Pioneer BDP-330 has nothing special listed for it video processing which leaves me to believe that more effort and quailty was put into the video processing unit in the SC-35 than the BDP-330. Secondly, it's not an Eliter version of a BluRay player, therefore I might not have the attention to detail as the receiver does.

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/ep...es/BDP-330.pdf

I wish there was more info on this player to see what it's video processor section is like compared to the SC-35 AVR.

I'm sure that I'm just splitting hairs over this.
