Default Question about my tweeters.

Okay, I have silk-dome tweeters on my speakers at home. My daughter recently had some friends over (all around 6-yrs-old). I noticed on the weekend, that someone had pushed the dome of my tweeters in. I was able to bring them to normal with some tape, but I'm wondering, is there any possibility of damage? I don't know how hard they pushed, but the dome's themselves are back to normal. Just wondering.

I had this happen to me a while ago. I tried to see if there was a difference b4 I pulled it out and after. I personally couldn't tell a difference but I dont have "golden ears" If it bothers you you can just order the driver and replace it yourself. It shouldnt be very expensive. I did this with my Kef's and it was fairly easy..

do you notice any difference in regards to its texture? crimps or scratches and the like?

if you dont hear any substantial difference, i wouldnt bother.

as jdub has mentioned, for peace of mind, you can go ahead and hack away with a new driver, as i cant do DIY if my life depended on it.

I have seen this problem many times. You should be ok. Worse possible scenario (not likely) is to replace the tweeter and that is very easy. It only requires a screw driver.

I would like to know if you had the grills on or off? I have a hard time imagining my 5 yr old daughter and her friends being so fascinated with a speaker that they had to take the grill off (which isn't always easy) and then play with it as such......just wondering?

I had the grills off Fors*. I should have thought about little fingers before they came over. But my daughter's been taught not to touch, and I kind of forgot to think about others' little ones. Kind of my fault.

As for the texture, there's a wrinkle in one part. But as for sound, they still sound okay. I was more interested in if they could have damaged the driver part, but I don't think so. Guess it gives me a reason to crank something, and not have my wife mad at me. Gotta test these things out right?
