Thought I might be the one to break the Ice on these new receivers! I have had the SC-27 for about a week now and I'm loving it. Just need to tweak a little more. I came from a ONKYO 876 which was a nice receiver but it got too Hot for my area. the SC-27 runs cool.

Perhaps a mod could make this the "Official" thread?

Anyway, noticed your choice in words in your post edubb. Pretty remarkable the difference in the amount of heat between these 2 AVR's huh? Coming from an Onkyo to my Elite, it was rather surprising.

yes! with the sc-27. It can be on for several straight hours and the top will stay pretty cool. That ONKYO could cook my dinner.... It was a good receiver though

Yeah, I saw yours as well. I only have 1, but they are loads of fun! I luv freaking out my family and friends when they are over. The look on their faces is hilarious! And the best part is they run off of their own amp, so the Elite is not involved except for the sending out the LFE.

I figured they would be included as well since they were included for last years model's thread. I totally agree.

Does anyone know if the SC-27 can pass a HDMI signal with the power off?

I assume these have the same capability to do passthrough as my SC-05 can do. With HDMI, you can play the TV's speakers for your audio by putting the SC-27 in what is called "standby" mode (this is where the blue power light is the only thing on and there is no amber display.) By doing this, it should simply passthrough the audio to the TV. Again, as long as it does the same thing as my SC-05 can, this should work.

SC-27

SC-25

I'm not sure about pricing. I think the 27 is around $2000 and the 25 is around $1800.

I don't use it, but I think the order you turn things off or on has something to do with it remaining on........anyone else remember a post about this?

well in the 07 manual it say all components have to be hdmi control compatible(and even then if its not all pioneer brand hdmi compatible its not guaranteed to work only guarantee is if its all pioneer branded) then hdmi control has to be turned on in each component then it pass's thru in stanby mode but from what i see in the 07 it has to be set so if u wanna pass thru tv sat or bluray u first have to have ur receiver in that mode before turning it off then shut down all components turn on ur components but the tv itself last so turn on ur blu ray or sat cable box then ur tv and if its set right the sc07 or 27 should turn on then back off yet stay in standby mode note this mode is not accessible ne other way it only goes into standby if its all setup correctly

the only other way i know to get sound thru ur tv but it requires the sc07 to remain on is to set up hdmi pass through turn off the kuro link or hdmi control w/e u wanna call it switch to the source your watching on the 07 then on the 07 remote switch it to rcv and press audio parameters on the 07 display a screen will pop up go thru the menu left or right until u reach hdmi select passthrough and bam youll get sound but remember you have to keep the receiver on the whole time for this
