Pioneer Elite SC-07 - Blu-ray Forum

I'm now the proud owner of one of these puppys, and it has done very well in the first week. I am by no means knowledgeable enough about this subject to write one of these "mini reviews" that i see some people post on here, so sorry if thats what you thought this thread was guys

I'M looking for just that though! I'd like to see other peoples opinions on what they think, settings, performance, etc.

Quick question about the PS3 and Lossless audio though. Before this receiver i had never heard lossless, so i am unfamiliar with it, and because the PS3 will not bitstream it I am unsure of if i am actually hearing it or not. (Don't run me off the board or anything for this) I think i have the settings correctly set up, and what i'm hearing really doesn't sound like that large of a difference

I was anticipating a bigger discrepancy. So little, that I am unsure if it either A. actually exists; or B. Placebo effect, i "think" its lossless so my mind says "oh thats better!" Because in all honesty, i'm not sure if my PS3 settings are right.

Audio Output Settings: HDMI Automatic (Everything Checked)
BD/DVD Audio Output Format (HDMI): Linear PCM

so your not happy with your results?
i am new to this ans this past sunday i purchased
a pair of klipsch rf-82's. and i still wanted to purchase the pioneer elite 94, but now after reading your story im thinking twice about this?
is it worth it? or should i spend it on my something more useful like on my girlfriend?

I went from a Pioneer elite 52 to a 94 and noticed a difference between DD and lossless. It isn't an overwhelming difference, there is just more openness to the sound. Some discs are just mixed better than others and have more detail. Do I think that it was worth the investment in upgrading? Absolutely!
If you're thinking of getting a 94 don't think twice you won't regret it.

i was thinking about this unit as well but, i will go with one of their lesser elite models like the 94 or 92. i just want more money for more BD movies. plus, i don't need all those extra toys that come with it.
